They cover a lot of the same ground
Both products are built around pool routes. That shared core is large enough that counting feature checkmarks will not settle the decision.

Skimmer’s scores are a snapshot checked August 9, 2026 on Capterra and Google Play. PoolDial’s rating was checked October 28, 2026 in Apple’s App Store. Three ratings are far too few to compare with nearly a thousand reviews; these are dated platform scores, not a reliability test.
How pricing changes as you grow
PoolDial charges $2 per serviced pool with a $40 monthly minimum. Skimmer charges a $49 minimum for up to 49 serviced locations, $2 per location from 50 to 1,000 on Scaling Up, and custom Enterprise pricing above that. At most sizes the published formulas land in the same place.

Founder’s take
For the average buyer who mainly wants a reliable, established option, I would choose Skimmer. It is also my preference for a larger company.
I would choose PoolDial when a more modern product, direct access to the founder for support and product input, or confirmed regional currency and metric-unit settings matter more. If you need those international settings in Skimmer, verify the exact countries, currencies, and units with them before buying.
Put both products through the same day
The clearer workflow for your team matters more than the prettier feature list. Give both products the same practical test:
- Build and change one real route.
- Complete a stop with poor connectivity.
- Record readings, dosages, photos, and notes.
- Create an invoice and test the QuickBooks sync with your bookkeeper.
Then ask yourself two questions. Do I value Skimmer’s established scale or PoolDial’s founder access more? And do I need regional currency or metric-unit support confirmed before I buy?
Details worth checking
- QuickBooks Online
- Both connect. Skimmer documents automatic transfers of customers, products, payments, and paid invoices, with unpaid invoices staying in Skimmer until payment is recorded (sync guide). Confirm the records your bookkeeper needs in either product.
- Older service history
- Both apps work offline. Skimmer notes that much older history may need to download from the cloud (mobile history), so include older visits in your offline test.
- Route optimization
- Included in PoolDial. In Skimmer it comes with Scaling Up and Enterprise.
- Taking your data with you
- PoolDial has import and export tools. Skimmer documents spreadsheet exports for customers, service locations, and completed service history (reports and exports). Ask both for a sample with the records you need.
- AI tools
- PoolDial’s assistant, Cody, answers questions and takes supported actions. Skimmer’s early-access AI Insights answers reporting questions but cannot change records (AI Insights). Neither should decide this on its own.

Which should a larger pool company choose?
As PoolDial’s founder, my recommendation for a larger company is Skimmer, which offers Enterprise controls for multi-location operations. PoolDial is currently the strongest fit for businesses up to roughly 200 pools and a few employees.
Can I switch from Skimmer to PoolDial?
PoolDial can review your export and help import supported customer and route data. Confirm service history, attachments, invoices, and stored payment methods separately. A sample migration is the best way to see what will transfer before switching.
Does Skimmer offer a free trial?
Skimmer advertises a first-month Scaling Up promotion with usage limits; its terms say service beyond 49 locations can be billed. PoolDial offers a 14-day trial. Check each vendor’s current offer and cancellation terms before signing up.
Choose Skimmer if your priority is a reliable, established pool-service platform, a larger support organization, or the needs of a bigger operation. That is my recommendation for the average buyer.
