PoolDial and Pool Brain both cover the core of a pool service business, and both are founder-run. Pool Brain emphasizes configured workflows and technician accountability, and its published formula can cost less as your team grows. PoolDial is newer, smaller, and more modern, with unusually direct access to its founder.

I’m Parker Conley, the founder of PoolDial, so read this as a vendor’s comparison rather than an independent ranking. My personal recommendation is labeled as opinion below.

They cover the same operating core

There is plenty of overlap. Both products are built around pool routes and the work that happens at each stop.

  • Pool-specific routes and scheduling
  • Technician service workflows
  • Customer and service history
  • Readings, dosages, and chemistry records
  • Billing, invoices, and payments
  • QuickBooks Online connections

So the decision should not rest on a generic list of basic features. The useful questions are how each product organizes the work, what it costs at your size, and what kind of access you want to the people building and supporting it.

Where each one stands out

Founder-led workflow controls

  • Founder and CEO Adam Beech brings pool-operations experience
  • Service levels with required readings and checklists
  • Route optimization on web and mobile
  • Scheduled invoices and payment-decline retries
  • Inventory plus truck and tool tracking

Skimmer’s comparison page calls Pool Brain harder to learn and support. That is a competitor’s sales claim, so test it: let a technician complete a route, let the office configure a service level, and ask Pool Brain to show its onboarding and support process. Modern software and direct founder access

  • Clean routes and mobile service workflows
  • Customers, service history, chemistry, billing, and QuickBooks
  • Regional currency and metric-unit settings
  • Unlimited users under the current published pricing
  • Direct founder support and meaningful product input

The tradeoff: both products are founder-run, but PoolDial is newer, with less product history, public review evidence, and ecosystem.

Mobile App Experience

Your technicians will use the app at nearly every stop. These are each product’s own screens; the better test is a technician running your real route in each app.

A newer product with a very small sample so far

Pool Brain’s scores are a snapshot checked August 9, 2026 on Capterra and Google Play; 4.2 is a simple average of the two platforms. The gap between the component scores says more than the average, so test the field app yourself. PoolDial’s rating was checked October 28, 2026 in Apple’s App Store. Three ratings are far too few to compare with 164 reviews.

How pricing changes as you grow

PoolDial charges $2 per serviced pool with a $40 monthly minimum. Pool Brain prices by active field technician: $50 plus $65 per tech. PoolDial is lower for a very small route; from three techs upward, Pool Brain’s published formula is lower in every example below.

Illustrative estimates, not quotes, from published pricing checked August 10, 2026 and rechecked October 29, 2026. Pool Brain’s calculator charges $50 a month for unlimited office users plus $65 per active field technician, for 0 to 50 technicians. PoolDial asks companies above 500 pools to contact sales for volume discounts. PoolDial pricing · Pool Brain pricing

Founder’s take

Pool Brain is founder-run, brings real pool-industry experience, and emphasizes technician monitoring. Its interface feels older to me. Skimmer criticizes its usability, onboarding, and support, but I would test those competitor claims with your own technicians.

Pool Brain’s formula is lower from three techs upward, so it may be the budget-conscious alternative. For a larger company, I would choose Skimmer over Pool Brain.

Choose PoolDial if you want a more modern product, direct founder support and product input, or confirmed regional currency and metric-unit settings. If those settings matter, verify Pool Brain’s regional support directly.

Put both products through the same day

Test workflow control against product feel. Give both products the same practical test:

  1. Configure one real service level.
  2. Build and optimize a technician route.
  3. Complete a stop with your required readings and proof.
  4. Create an invoice, retry a payment, and test the QuickBooks flow.

Then price the team and route you expect to have, not only the one you have today, and ask yourself two questions. At my planned team size, how much do price and technician controls outweigh product feel? And can each vendor show the currencies and units I need in a live demo?

Details worth checking

QuickBooks Online
Both connect. Pool Brain documents what its initial QuickBooks Online import brings across (import details). Confirm the records your bookkeeper needs in either product.
Route optimization
Included in PoolDial. Pool Brain optimizes routes on web and mobile (optimizing routes).
Working offline
PoolDial’s mobile app works offline and syncs when the connection returns. Include a poor-signal stop in your test of both apps.
Taking your data with you
PoolDial has import and export tools. Ask Pool Brain for a sample export with the customer, service, and billing records you would need to leave.
Phone answering and AI
PoolDial includes 24/7 AI phone answering and an assistant, Cody, that answers questions and takes supported actions. Pool Brain did not offer AI phone answering when this comparison was first written; check what it offers now, and whether you need it at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pool Brain or PoolDial cheaper?

It depends on team size. In our August 10, 2026 estimates, PoolDial was lower with no techs or one tech and 50 pools ($40 vs $50 and $100 vs $115 a month), while Pool Brain’s formula of $50 plus $65 per technician was lower from three techs upward. PoolDial asks companies above 500 pools to contact sales for volume pricing.

How do Pool Brain’s public reviews compare?

As of August 9, 2026, Pool Brain had 164 reviews across two platforms: 4.9 from 27 on Capterra and 3.4 from 137 on Google Play. PoolDial has three five-star ratings in Apple’s App Store so far, which is too small a sample to compare. Test both field apps yourself.

Which should a larger pool company choose?

As PoolDial’s founder, my recommendation for a larger company is Skimmer over Pool Brain. PoolDial is currently the strongest fit for businesses up to roughly 200 pools and a few employees.

Can I switch from Pool Brain to PoolDial?

PoolDial can review your export and help import supported customer and route data. Confirm service history, attachments, invoices, and stored payment methods separately. A sample migration is the best way to see what will transfer before switching.

Does PoolDial work offline?

Yes. The PoolDial mobile app works offline and syncs when connectivity returns. Include a poor-signal stop when you test both products.

Our Verdict: Choose Based on Fit

Choose PoolDial for owners growing from their first customer toward their first crew who want a modern product, direct founder access, and confirmed regional currency and metric-unit settings.

Choose Pool Brain if configured service levels, required readings, and technician accountability matter most, or if its lower formula price from three techs upward is the deciding factor. Test the field app and support with your own technicians first.

If your current system is working well, staying with it can be the right decision too. For a deeper look at Pool Brain on its own, read our Pool Brain review, or see the pool service software guide for a broader view of your options.
