Raypak Crosswind Heat Pump Diagnostic Guide

Crosswind and Crosswind V use different controls and different display vocabularies. Identify the exact model before interpreting a code. The two tables below intentionally stay separate.

Safety: Disconnect electrical power and follow the manual before opening equipment. Gas, combustion, line-voltage, pressurized-water, and refrigerant work belongs to qualified service personnel.

Original Crosswind E, P, and F codes

E6Excessive inlet-to-outlet temperature difference from insufficient flow.Increase flow and clear restrictions.
Eb / EdAmbient-temperature protection or anti-freezing reminder.Verify ambient conditions; Ed is a freeze-protection reminder.
E1 / E2High-pressure or low-pressure protection.Check water flow and airflow first; pressure/refrigerant diagnosis requires qualified service.
E7 / E8 / EAWater-outlet, exhaust-temperature, or cooling-mode evaporator protection.Shut down and have temperature, flow, airflow, and refrigerant conditions checked.
P0Controller communication failure.Check communication connections and controls.
P1–P9A named water, exhaust, coil, ambient, cooling-plate, or current sensor failed.Use the manual table to identify the exact sensor, then inspect its wiring and connection.
PARestart-memory failure.Cycle power once; call service if it returns.
F1–F8 / FA / FbCompressor-drive, PFC, start/run, current, or inverter thermal protection.Record the exact code and call qualified inverter/refrigeration service.

In/Out/Amb/Coil Sensor Open or ShortThe named sensor circuit is open or shorted.Inspect the named sensor wires and terminals.
Flow Sensor FailThe flow reading is out of range.Check flow-sensor settings, wiring, and actual flow.
Hi Press Trip / Lo Press TripA refrigerant pressure switch tripped.Check water flow for high pressure; refrigerant diagnosis requires qualified service.
Hi Press Lockout / Lo Press LockoutRepeated pressure trips produced a lockout.Correct flow or refrigerant causes before clearing the fault.
BrownoutThe 24 V transformer signal is low.Check the configured 208/230 V brownout mode, incoming voltage, and transformer output.
Water PS OpenThe water-pressure switch is open.Check pump operation and water flow.
Hi Delta-TInlet-to-outlet temperature difference is too high.Check pump operation and water flow.
Heating Fail / Cooling FailOutlet temperature did not move in the expected direction.Check compressor operation for heating or the reversing valve for cooling.
Defrost LockoutDefrost was not effective.Confirm ambient conditions and have airflow/refrigerant operation checked.
No Communication with Heat PumpThe main-board/keypad harness is damaged or disconnected.Inspect, reconnect, or replace the harness.

Running but not heating

Basic performance checkA working unit should normally discharge air about 8–10°F cooler than incoming air in heating mode.Check water flow, filter, valves, airflow, runtime, setpoint, and the three-minute compressor delay before calling service.
Apparent leakOperating heat pumps can produce substantial condensation.Turn the heat pump off while leaving the filter pump on. If dripping stops and the water contains no chlorine, it is condensation rather than a pool-water leak.
