This interactive troubleshooting wizard is designed specifically for the Pentair IntelliBrite 5G white and color LED pool and spa lights. The IntelliBrite 5G color light offers seven pre-programmed color light shows and five fixed colors, controlled via wall switch power cycling, the IntelliBrite Controller, or Pentair automation systems (IntelliTouch, EasyTouch, SunTouch). Available in both 12 VAC and 120 VAC models.
Select the "Homeowner" role for safe, practical checks you can perform yourself, or switch to "Technician" mode for detailed diagnostic procedures including wiring inspection, fuse replacement, circuit board diagnosis, and GFCI troubleshooting.
The table below shows the number of power cycles (off/on) needed to activate each color show mode or fixed color on the IntelliBrite 5G color light.
| Power Cycles | Mode / Color |
|---|---|
| 1 | SAm Mode — cycles through white, magenta, blue, and green |
| 2 | Party Mode — rapid color changing |
| 3 | Romance Mode — slow color transitions |
| 4 | Caribbean Mode — blues and greens |
| 5 | American Mode — red, white, and blue |
| 6 | California Sunset Mode — orange, red, and magenta |
| 7 | Royal Mode — richer, deeper tones |
| 8 | Blue (fixed) |
| 9 | Green (fixed) |
| 10 | Red (fixed) |
| 11 | White (fixed) |
| 12 | Magenta (fixed) |
| 13 | Hold — saves current color effect |
| 14 | Recall — activates last saved color |
If the light does not illuminate at all, check the wiring connection at the junction box and verify proper AC power is being supplied to the light. For 120V lights, check the GFCI breaker and reset if needed. For 12V lights with a fuse harness, the fuse may have blown and needs replacement. If the fuse blows again after replacement, the circuit board may also be damaged and require replacement.
Turn the wall switch off and back on a specific number of times to select a color show or fixed color. For example, off/on 6 times selects California Sunset mode. The light will momentarily show white, then briefly go dark during the switching process before displaying the selected color. If power is off for more than 5 seconds, the last saved color will display on next power-on.
No. The IntelliBrite 5G LED pool and spa light cannot be used on a dimmer circuit. Using a dimmer switch will result in permanent damage to the light. The light must be connected to a standard on/off switch or an automation system such as Pentair IntelliTouch, EasyTouch, or SunTouch.
GFCI tripping with a pool light typically indicates a ground fault in the light fixture, wiring, or junction box. Common causes include water intrusion into the light fixture through a damaged lens gasket, corroded wiring connections in the junction box, or a damaged cord. A licensed electrician should inspect the entire circuit from breaker to fixture. The GFCI is a critical safety device and should never be bypassed.
Yes. Select the "Homeowner" role and the wizard will show only the checks that are safe and practical for a non-professional to perform. Pool light wiring and electrical work should always be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified pool professional. Technician-level steps are hidden unless you switch to Technician mode.
